“What should we send as “Thank you” notes?”
“I don’t know. How much of a budget do we have?”
“A couple of bucks.”
“Then let’s go to Kinkos and make photocopies of some of the photos and send those.”
That was the discussion between Damian and I after our surprise elopement that only our closest friends knew about. We kept it classy by going to Vegas, stayed at the Excalibur, ate at the buffets, and splurged on the wedding package that included 10 photos and a flower. While we were beyond broke, we still had an amazing time, albeit none of the things we would have loved to have, like a wedding dress or cake. Then again, it was 114 degree the night we got married so it was probably a good thing that we were simply wearing our summer finest.
Needless to say, we didn’t have stationery.
As a wedding photographer now, close to 17 years later, I swoon over my couples’ thoughtful creations and absolutely love, love, love photographing the save the dates, the official wedding invitations, and all the other wedding details.
Here’s my tip to my couples: If you can bring a full set of your invitation suite along on your wedding day, great! I’ll photograph it right alongside all the other details but completely understand that you have so much to think about that bringing that extra set of invites isn’t all that high on the priority list.
So in case you forgot to bring yours along on your wedding day, you can always mail it my way and I’ll photograph it here at the studio and add it to your wedding collection online.
Happy wedding planning!
